The Mission statements are provided below for your information.
Committee Mission for All Advisory Committees
Every advisory committee looks for best practices that are happening in the school system that can be shared and replicated and should think creatively by obtaining ideas from similar school districts or similar private sector functions. Skills sets for members for each committee must have Knowledge, experience, and interest. The Committee's roles are advisory in nature. All final decisions will be the responsibility of the Jefferson County Board of Education.
Committee meetings will be announced and open, in accordance with the Sunshine Law. The liaison will be responsible for setting the time and placed of the first meeting. Future meeting dates will be set by the majority of the committee. Each committee in conjunction with the liaison will be responsible for providing timelines and dates for deliverables to the Board. The meeting dates will be made available on the website and channel 19.
The following will be invited to send a representative to each committee: JCEA, JC Service Personnel, Student Government, Shepherd College, County Planning Commission, LSIC's, PTO's, etc.
School Impact Advisory Committee
This Committee is designed to review the financial impacts of development on the schools. This committee will help to provide information by completing the following tasks:
a. Provide recommendation on Net Impact of development on Capital costs
b. Provide recommendation on Net Impact of development on Operating Costs
c. Review all WV Laws on impact fees, proffers, etc.
d. Review the 10 year school facilities plan
e. Review the tax structure of the county as well as any other applicable resources

Science and Technology Advisory Committee
The Science and Technology committee will work to provide state of the art technical facilities, instructional assistance, career-counseling, and curriculum guidance. This Committee will have members with national-level experience, skills, and professional credentials in science, engineering, technology, and education. Members will be recruited from local colleges, high tech businesses, and research agencies. This committee will help to provide information by completing the following tasks:
a. Securing internships for the students
b. Mentoring students in job and education choices
c. Maintaining the quality, timeliness, and professional respect of the science and technology program.

Financial Advisory Committee
Financial Advisory Committee will review all financial operations to make recommendations to improve our ability to provide timely and accurate information to the public. This committee will help to provide information by completing the following tasks:
a. Translate our current budget into a readable, manageable form for public review.
b. Assist in preparing quarterly and annual reports to the community

Facilities Advisory Committee
The Facilities Advisory Committee will review existing and future facilities to create a healthy and facilitative learning environment. This committee will help to provide information by completing the following tasks:
a. Provide a needs assessment for repairs and maintenance in all schools
b. Determine current and future school facility needs
c. Provide recommendations revising the comprehensive facilities plan.
c. Examine alternative ways to provide space to accommodate the growing numbers of students as we plan for building new schools.

Transportation Committee
This committee will help to review fleet management issues to ensure safety and efficient allocation of resources. This committee will help to provide information by completing the following tasks:
a. Review and update of Bus routes
b. Maintenance procurement and preventive maintenance
c. Bus loops for safety and maintenance
d. Emergency procedures
